Marine Directory is operated by Ruaridh McLean Wright, an individual trading under the Sedyllic name, who is responsible for the personal information described in this notice.

Information we collect

We collect account and contact details, customer vessel information, supplier business and verification details, service areas, quote requests, quotes, job updates, reviews, uploaded files and notification records. Public supplier profiles are clearly separated from private account, customer, quote and verification information.

Why we use it

We use personal information to create and secure accounts, publish supplier profiles, match customers with suppliers, operate quote and job workflows, send service messages, prevent misuse, support users and comply with legal obligations. Our lawful bases are performance of our agreement with you, legitimate interests in operating and securing the marketplace, legal obligation where applicable, and consent where we specifically ask for it.

Listing corrections, removals and claims

If you contact us about a listing, we collect your name, reply email, request details, any business role and supporting link. We use this information in our legitimate interests in keeping the directory accurate, handling complaints and preventing unauthorised claims; legal obligations may also apply to data-rights requests. Submitting a request is not marketing consent. Only authorised administrators and our service providers can access these reports.

We use a keyed, non-public hash of your network address and submission counts to limit abuse; the form does not store your raw network address. Hosting security logs may separately contain network information. We normally delete or anonymise closed listing requests after 12 months, unless a dispute or legal requirement needs longer retention. Minimal suppression records may be kept to avoid republishing a removed listing. Contact us using the details above to exercise your rights.

Who receives it

Relevant customer and job details are shared only with suppliers selected or matched for a request. We use Supabase for authentication and data services, Vercel for hosting, Resend for transactional email and Google when you choose Google sign-in. These providers process information under their own contractual safeguards and may process it outside the UK.

Retention and security

We keep information only for as long as needed to run the service, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Account records normally remain while an account is active; job and quote records may be retained for up to six years after completion. We use access controls and private database rules, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability, and may withdraw consent where consent applies. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We currently use only cookies and similar storage needed for sign-in, security and core marketplace functions. We do not currently use advertising or optional analytics cookies.

Changes

We will update this notice when the service or its data use changes and will show the latest date above.
